45th Annual New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon

Forgive me if this is more Freewheeling than Festival but I do hope to hear some WWOZ programming along the route....

I was delighted to see the WWOZ icon on the webpage for this Sunday's New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon.

It seems like ages ago when my husband and I were living in Seattle and our fantastic 90.3 KEXP hosted a benefit Mardi Gras party for the beautiful sister-station WWOZ, who was reeling something fierce after a certain hurricane. At that time it was on a guitar string and a prayer whether or not your station would get back on healthy feet - and now look at ya!

Now we're in Boston and will be flying down this week to participate in the marathon.

And if any of you locals are interested, there is also a 1/2 marathon and a 5k and all 3 races still have spaces available, and Children's Hospital directly benefits.
