Well, it took more than 30 years but I'm happy to say I've finally been to "N'Awlins". And I shall return! (whether Bob F. is in town or not!) Being from/up here on the east coast, don't get much local news from N.O., and it was an eye opener!
Since learning some years ago about Marie Laveau and Congo Square, as well as having visited,I now know N.O. is much broader than what I've been previously exposed to.
Not every revelation was pleasant - I read about the KKK incident and toured the 9th ward (which needs to be seen in person, in my opinion), and there are other challenges that have been/are going in places like the Algiers section...but it was inspiring to see N.O. coming back despite broken promises...
I intend to be on hand when Congo Square and Armstrong Park is reopened (if not before)! And I've got to include a visit to Mme. Laveau's tomb. Thanks folks, for a smokin' experience!
Odabo Odoba (Until we meet again)
