Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention

Join Smoothie King at the New Orleans Bluedoo Walk/Run/Party

Smoothie King has launched the Smoothie King Race Team with New Orleans Pelicans superstar, Jrue Holiday, serving as honorary captain. Race team participants have the chance to meet Jrue Holiday at area races throughout the year. They will also receive a free Smoothie King Race Team running shirt, discounts to New Orleans Track Club (NOTC) race events, a chance to win tickets to a Pelicans basketball game at the Smoothie King Center, autographed basketballs, jerseys and more!

The New Orleans Bluedoo Walk/Run/Party is a two-mile walk, run and party. The race will benefit the Prostate Cancer Research Fund at Tulane University. The NOLA Bluedoo Walk/Run/Party is open to all runners and walkers, NOTC members and nonmembers alike, as well as party participants. Participants are encouraged to costume in blue – the color of prostate cancer awareness – for the event.

Second Annual NOLA Bluedoo Party/Walk/Run

Tulane Cancer Center, in partnership with the New Orleans Track Club, hosts the NOLA Bluedoo Party/Walk/Run. The two-mile route will take walkers/runners on a tour of Tulane's Uptown campus. Race registration is $25 thru July 31 ($30 Aug 1 thru race day); college/med students with ID pay $15. If you don’t want to walk/run, a $15 Party Pass allows access to the celebration, including food, beverages, a silent auction, a kids’ tent, and entertainment by Wendell Brunious and the New Orleans All Stars, the Laissez Boys of New Orleans and more. Emmy Winner Christian Jules LeBlanc, who stars in CBS’s The Young and the Restless, will serve as grand marshal. The event will raise awareness of prostate cancer, while sponsorships/silent auction proceeds will benefit Tulane’s Prostate Cancer Research Fund. Blue costumes encouraged. Last fall's inaugural event attracted 600 participants and raised $137,000.

Joan's Healing Power: Guided Workshop by Dr. Janet Lynn Roseman

Joan’s Healing Power: A guided shield-making activity and healing workshop led by Dr. Janet Lynn Roseman, author of IF JOAN OF ARC HAD CANCER. Free and open to the public, but limited to the first 30 participants. Must pre-register online. Supplies will be provided. The workshop is open to all, with emphasis on women undergoing cancer treatment or recovering from cancer. Dr. Roseman will be leading an arts based healing workshop for women to make power shields with Joan of Arc’s words as inspiration, based on guided steps in her book. Roseman is Co-Director for the Integrative Medicine Program at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine, specializing in spirituality and medicine and compassionate care. She will also be in a panel discussion at 1 p.m. on how Joan of Arc has influenced her life, all as part of the annual Salon de Jeanne d’Arc free full-day seminar on Joan of Arc, presented by the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc and Loyola University Medieval Studies.

On Saturday, September 26, Tipitina’s Foundation will host its 4th Annual Tipitina’s Foundation Rhythm & Blues 5K Run fundraiser, which raises money to support New Orleans area elementary, middle and high school marching band programs – some of whom will be performing along the race route.

This event will raise funds to support music education throughout the Greater New Orleans area. For the celebration, Tipitina’s Foundation will coordinate an outdoor festival along the neutral ground following the 5k run with live music, costume award giveaways for best dressed musicians or bands, refreshments, and food donated from a number of local restaurants. Run starts at 5pm with the outdoor festival to immediately follow!

In addition to all the fun, you'll be supporting a great cause! The Magnolia on the River Gala will help us build a new 5,000 sq. foot Wellness Center on the Magnolia Community Services main campus. The center will address the health needs of our clients by providing a holistic wellness environment, including medical service delivery, physical therapy, and accessible exercise and recreational space.

The NOAC Turkey Day Race includes a 5-mile and a Youth Half Mile race open to all runners and walkers, NOAC and NOTC members and nonmembers alike.
