More than 2,000 runners will be making their way through the historic streets of New Orleans for the first-ever Smoothie King Big Easy Running Festival. The inaugural race, which includes half marathon, 4-mile, and 1-mile race options, will end with a finish fit for New Orleans, as runners are greeted at Smoothie King Center by the infamous moves of the 610 Stompers, Cowboy Mouth, and the spirited sounds of area high schools bands. The Doc Griggs 2X's Around the Dome Family Fitness Fun Walk encourages the community to “Get Checked. Get Fit. Get Moving!™” by walking twice around the Mercedes-Benz Superdome while showcasing historical landmarks in New Orleans during the 41st Annual Bayou Classic.
The theme of the event is “Get Checked. Get Fit. Get Moving!™” to demonstrate to attendees that exercise can be fun while highlighting the importance of health, fitness and wellness through a variety of exercises such as Zumba, Hula Hooping , Second Line Dancing instruction, bicycling and MORE!! This year's event will also include an educational component for walkers with FREE blood pressure screenings and relaxing chair massages offered by RMDs Aesthetics & Med Spa located in Mid-City New Orleans. After the walk in Champions Square, participants can enjoy healthy food & snacks provided by sponsors.
