Save The Fly Valentine's & Family Picnic

Public Valentine's & Family Picnic to show support for preserving The Fly as open and freely accessible public space. According to plans of the Audubon Commission and the Carrollton Boosters, the area of The Fly is slated for being turned into a massive soccer complex in the course of which The Fly as we know and love it will cease to exist.

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) believes that all hard-working individuals and families should have access to the benefits and stability of homeownership. In this belief, we are committed to partnering with families to build simple, decent, and affordable housing. Our First Time Homebuyers program offers low income residents an opportunity to own a home of their own. Participants can choose a Habitat for Humanity owned lot on which we will build a brand-new, single family home. Habitat will then sell them the property with no financial down payment and a 0% interest loan.

Our First Time Homebuyers program offers low income residents an opportunity to own a home for about the same monthly payment as renting. Participants can choose a Habitat for Humanity owned lot in the 7th, 8th, Upper 9th wards, New Orleans East or Central City on which we will build a brand-new, single family home. Habitat will then sell them the house and lot with no financial down payment and a 0% interest loan.
