MATERIALS ACCEPTED: Plastics, Paper, Aluminum/ steel, Glass, Batteries, Latex Paint, and Electronics.

Hermann-Grima and Gallier Historic Houses join Smithsonian Museum Day Live

In the spirit of Smithsonian Museums, who offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket…for free!

Visitors coming to the Hermann-Grima House and grounds will enjoy a guided tour and also have the opportunity to browse the Exchange Shop, which consigns the work of local female artists.

Guests visiting the Gallier House and grounds will enjoy a guided tour and also have the opportunity to explore a new exhibit focusing on Tennessee Williams and the French Quarter.

SKYY Vodka and Freedom to Marry Present: Toast to Marriage New Orleans

Toast To Marriage is a national campaign which aims to raise awareness and funds for marriage equality in places where same-sex couples are still excluded from marriage. At each event, photographers will take portraits of couples toasting in support of marriage equality. The photos will be available at www.toasttomarriage.com and @toasttomarriage on Instagram using the hashtag Toast To Marriage.

SKYY has also created a cocktail, "The Proposal," to celebrate the campaign .

Toast To Marriage will be taking over The Country Club on Sunday, September 28.

CASA Volunteer Orientation

Want to make a difference in a child’s life? Become a CASA New Orleans Advocate! CASA New Orleans fights for the rights of abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers advocate on behalf of children (birth to 18+) in foster care. A CASA volunteer offers a child trust and advocacy during complex legal proceedings. Interacting and explaining to the child what is going on, the CASA may be the only stable and continuous presence in the child’s life.

Come to one of our orientations to learn more:

All orientations are located at 1340 Poydras St. NOLA 70112 in our office on the 21st floor.

The duties carried out by a CASA are extremely important. No special education or skills are required. We provide thorough training and continual support.

Miss Vesta’s Swamp Galaxy Gala is a benefit party for the International Arts Biennial Prospect New Orleans. The event will feature cocktails, dinner and dancing at the Contemporary Arts Center. The benefit will celebrate the opening of the biennial’s third iteration, “Prospect.3: Notes for Now,” which will take place from October 25, 2014 through January 25, 2015. The exhibition will present the work of more than 50 artists selected by Artistic Director Franklin Sirmans, in more than 15 locations throughout neighborhoods across New Orleans. Boudin Bourbon & Beer

The fourth annual Emeril Lagasse Foundation’s Bourbon, Boudin & Beer festival returns on November 7th at Champions Square. This celebration of Louisiana culture features boudin and artisan sausages from 50 of the country’s best chefs. Abita will pour its flagship beers and specialty selections, and Buffalo Trace will provide an array of bourbon cocktails. Grace Potter will headline the roster of great music, including Brooklyn-based The Lone Bellow and Louisiana favorites Pine Leaf Boys and Sweet Crude. Co-chaired by Emeril Lagasse and Donald Link, the funds raised benefit Emeril Lagasse Foundation, which supports children’s educational programs, life skills development initiatives, culinary training, and cultural enrichment. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.boudinbourbonandbeer.com or in a limited quantity at the gate. Ticket admission price includes all food, beverage and musical entertainment.
