Come celebrate Bacchanalia—a competitive wine tasting featuring Red Wines of France! Put your taste buds to the test and be in the running to win the wine reserves. There will be food, raffle prizes and lots of wine! The rules are easy: make a team and bring 3 bottles of the SAME French Red (any price goes). Proceeds benefit HandsOn New Orleans, a nonprofit volunteer action center whose mission is to engage, empower, and transform our community through volunteer service.
HandsOn New Orleans is hosting its next biannual competitive wine tasting fundraiser, Bacchanalia Spring 2014: Red Wines of France, at The Roux House on 3/20/14.
Register your team of 1-3 participants, and then bring three identical bottles of French red wine. Two bottles will be corked for blind tasting and the third set aside in reserve. After blind tasting, every attendee will vote on their favorite. Three winners are announced. First place takes home half the reserve, then second and third place split the other half.
Expect a wide variety of high-quality raffle items to bid on. Hors d’oeuvres will be passed around throughout the event and a cash bar will be available.
Tickets can be purchased through www.handsonneworleans.org or the Facebook page. All proceeds from the event will go to HandsOn New Orleans. For more information about Bacchanalia, please contact HandsOn New Orleans’ Director of Development, Jason Lacoste, at (504) 827-6813 or email@example.com.
Hosted on May 6, 2014, by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, GiveNOLA Day will be the community's first online, charitable giving day. The goal of GiveNOLA Day is to inspire the community to come together for 24 hours and contribute online, raising as many dollars as possible to support our local nonprofit organizations. It’s our day to celebrate New Orleans and the region's spirit of generosity. Every dollar donated to participating nonprofits on May 6th will be stretched with additional "lagniappe" dollars from the Greater New Orleans Foundation and our local partners.
GiveNOLA Day is tied to a national event called Give Local America where hundreds of community foundations across America ask their communities to give back on May 6, 2014. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations and technology partner Kimbia, Give Local America is raising funds for a national pool from which each participating foundation will receive funds to amplifying local gifts raised in the 24-hour period.
