Acclaimed as one of the best motion pictures ever made about music, the vibrant 'Calle 54' (2000) offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of some of the greatest Latin Jazz artists of our time. From the director of Academy Award-winning Belle Epoch (Best Foreign Language Film, 1993) comes this documentary featuring barefoot Brazilian pianist Eliane Elias, Argentinean tenor sax great Gato Barbieri, Paquito D'Rivera, Chucho Valdés, Cachao, and many more - not to mention the last on-screen appearances by the late composer-arranger Chico O'Farrill and the legendary timbales master and "godfather of Latin music" Tito Puente (pictured).

BOURBON WHIZ is our first musical web series based on the classic Wizard of Oz. We follow Dotty as she tries to buy alcohol on a Sunday in a dry county somewhere in Kansas, then gets denied and ends up taking some magical mushrooms. She gets whisked away in a tornado to the crazy old land of New Orleans. Be with her when she meets the crackhead, strippers, Liars, and Beggars, and Beer OH MY!!

COREY MACK will be the MC for the evening (CORYMACK.US) as well as live performances, burlesque, GOGO Dancers, and DJ Fayard!!

May 27, 2013, Memorial Day, Quarter Rat Monthly (QRM) is hosting a crawfish boil competition at Bayou Beer Garden in the Mid City neighborhood of New Orleans. The proceeds from the event will be directed to The Barman’s Fund, a group of local bartenders who pool tips to support the community. This month’s charities are STAIR, a group working one on one with students to assist them with reading skills, and Crescent City Lights Youth Theatre, to sponsor 4 children attending the summer program. There will be a $10 cover charge for the event and the QRM Boil Champion will be decided by tips collected at each table. At least 4 local businesses will be boiling.

Come learn how to make your very own, all-natural, body products in this hands-on workshop led by Sénica. Come with questions on natural home remedies for health and cleaning, and leave with some products of your own! CASA New Orleans (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is an agency that advocates on behalf of children (birth to 18+) who have been judged victims of abuse and/or neglect. A CASA volunteer offers a child trust and advocacy during complex legal proceedings. Interacting and explaining to the child what is going on, the CASA may be the only stable and continuous presence in the child’s life.

The Homer A. Plessy Community School will hold its second annual All Aboard Gala on Friday, June 7th, 2013 6:30-9:30 pm at the Marigny Opera House, 725 St. Ferdinand Street, New Orleans. The All Aboard Gala will feature live music from Kiyoko McCrae, Michael James and the Valparaiso Men's Chorus, delectable food, beer & wine and a silent auction stocked with gift certificates, jewelry, wine, objects of art and other choice items. Proceeds will help fund academic programs at the Homer A. Plessy Community School, a new arts-integrated public charter school opening in August 2013 in the Bywater neighborhood. Each year, Forum 35 hosts an unveiling of the Art Melt exhibit for an exclusive group of invested individuals. Tickets to attend the VIP preview party on July 19, 2013 will be made available for online purchase at artmelt.org in June. This multimedia, juried exhibit is the largest in the state, featuring spectacular works for purchase by Louisiana artists. The attendees include Art Melt 2013 artists and sponsors as well as a selective group of industry professionals.
