The Community Center of St Bernard, in partnership with The Meraux Foundation, will hold a Community Outreach Fair at Docville Farm, 5124 E St Bernard Hwy, Violet, on Friday, May 25 from 6:30-10 PM. This family-friendly event is open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend and enjoy a free shrimp boil and live music from We3 and Miss Maggie Havens and her band while learning more about the many human services agencies, faith-based groups and community organizations that serve St Bernard Parish residents.

This year New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center's annual Special Event will be held at the 12 Bar with entertainment by Dr. Michael White.

The Annual Business Meeting will feature an opportunity to network with like-minded women and this year IWO is pleased to announce Beverly Wright as the keynote speaker. The leading scholar and advocate for environmental justice, Beverly Wright is the Director of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice at Dillard University, and she is a recipient of the Heinz Award in recognition of her work to bring attention to environmental issues affecting poor communities.
Tickets for the IWO Annual Meeting must be purchased in advance.

The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library announce “Ye Olde Book Shoppe,” a sale of rare and collectible books and records, to be held June 16, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Avenue, in Metairie. Antique and collectible books and old records, some never offered before, will be for sale at 25% off the regular book sale prices. It is important to note that only antique and collectible books and records will be available at this sale.
