The It Factor Acting School presents kids musical "The Dressing Room". Written by Alexis Jones and Directed by Alexis Jones and Robin Kindrick.

Writer & Director Alexis Jones has traveled the globe performing with some of the best musical acts, and now she's is bringing it back to her hometown! She recently started a Kids Acting Summer Camp and has been working on an amazing Musical with the local kids from New Orleans. The show starts on August 1,2014 at 6pm. Doors Open at 5:30pm. A Streetcar Named Gaza

On August 1st, the New Orleans Palestinian Solidarity Committee will hold a community event in response to Operation Protective Edge. New Orleanian supporters will respond to this tragedy with a peaceful demonstration called #AStreetCarNamedGaza.

The streetcar ride will be held on the Canal Streetcar, beginning at the Carrollton stop at 7:30 PM on August 1st. The candlelight march will begin at Canal and Decatur at 8:30 PM, and the last meeting point is Mona’s Cafe on Frenchman at 9 PM. Any supporters are welcome to join the group at any point along the route.

Benefit family concert to raise money for Camp Pelican, a weeklong free camp for children with pulmonary disorders. Pelicanpalooza is the largest fundraiser for Camp Pelican.
Groovy 7, MoJEAUX, Weathered, and iRob featuring Chuck Credo and Friends (with Rob Schulte of the Topcats and Chuck Credo of The Mixed Nuts, along with other musicians) are providing entertainment. Returning to emcee this year’s event is local comedian, James Cusimano, and Fox 8’s Bruce Katz.
The cover charge is $20.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 5-12, and 100% of the proceeds benefit Camp Pelican’s campers. Lots of raffle drawings, and silent and live auctions for gift certificates to local businesses; autographed items from LSU and Saints; tickets to New Orleans attractions; hotel stays; and, more! Games2u is participating with entertainment for the children, and there will be a Spacewalk.

An informal reception with live music and a cash bar begins at 6:30 p.m. in the courtyard, and a seated five-course dinner follows at 7 p.m. in the main dining room. The dinner features Louisiana Legacy Beef and a selection of premium Alexander Valley wines to complement each course.

Friends of the Cabildo is proud to announce a symposium in conjunction with the Bicentennial of the Battle of New Orleans Weekend (Saturday, January 10th). Held at the Old U.S. Mint 3rd Floor Performance Space, Dr. Alan Taylor, 2014 and 1996 Pulitzer Prize Winner in History and University of Virgina Thomas Jefferson Foundation Professor of History, will present on the War of 1812 and his newest book The Internal Enemy: Slavery and the War in Virginia, 1772-1832.

A panel discussion will take place with Dr. Lawrence Powell and Dr. Clarence Mohr, moderated by Dr. Charles Chamberlain. Other lecturers include Dr. Lo Faber, recent Princeton University graduate and visiting Loyola University-New Orleans Visiting Professor, United States Military Academy – The History of Warfare Historian Dr. Joseph Stoltz and more to be announced.
