Snark Free Day 2014

DATE
Tue, Oct 21, 2014
TIME
12:00am - 11:59pm

SNARK FREE DAY is a movement aimed at shifting the way we interact with one another—at home, work, school and online.

Snark is a negative attitude that shows up in our daily communication, either face-to-face or on social media, and it often poisons relationships. Folks like this are “snark sharks.”

SNARK SHARKS are a societal problem and snark is starting to become a behavioral norm; we accept the snide remarks and rudeness displayed by our leaders, the media and even those in pop culture. We laugh, cheer them on, partake in the snark-fest. Every eye roll, smirk, mean post and sarcastic interaction that offends and puts others down contributes to the growth of this vicious snarknado and cycle of incivility.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. For one day, we can make a conscious effort to be civil, think before we speak and hold snark sharks accountable for their unwanted bites.

On October 21, 2014, take the pledge to embrace civility and lose the snark.

The Unholy Roller Revival Burlesque Show

DATE
Sun, Nov 23, 2014
TIME
9:00pm - 11:00pm

Snake Oil is proud to bring you the Unholy Roller Revival, a burlesque variety show with the fire and brimstone of an old time Pentecostal tent revival, but with no pesky damnation & judgment. If you grew up religious, like to laugh when Jimmy Swaggart sleeps with hookers, or if you love music and burlesque, then this is the show for you! The Unholy Roller Revival takes you on a journey to a bygone era when dancing ladies, musicians, and sideshows traveled with religious revivals to towns far and wide, to entertain and save the public, while relieving them of a few dollars. This event pays homage to that era by rolling all of the music, dancing, sideshow, and gospel into one hilarious show that lampoons religion & is guaranteed to have you in the aisles, jumping up & down, and screaming, "HALLELUJAH"! With, St. Cecelia's Asylum Chorus, Dr. Sick's Sacred Sextette, Pastor Ben Wisdom, Little Luna, Ginger Licious, GoGo McGregor, & Lady Lucerne.
