Cripple Creek is bringing the regional premiere of Bruce Norris’ “Clybourne Park,” the hottest ticket on Broadway in 2012 to New Orleans at The Shadowbox Theatre!
A response to Lorraine Hansberry’s masterpiece “A Raisin in the Sun,” “Clybourne Park” has won numerous awards including the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2012 Tony® Award for Best Play.
“Clybourne Park” takes place in a house in south Chicago over a span of 50 years. In 1956, the house is located in a white neighborhood and sold to an African-American family (the Younger family in "A Raisin in the Sun"). Then in 2009 the neighborhood has changed into an African-American community and the house is sold to a white couple. Uproariously funny, Norris dissects race relations and middle class hypocrisies in America past and present.

Octavia Art Gallery is pleased to present our first solo exhibition of Julie Robinson’s new paintings. Working in the tradition of color-field artists such as Helen Frankenthaler and Morris Louis, Robinson’s acrylic on frosted Mylar works are a unique combination of contemporary expressionism and minimalism. Her "Translucents" are composed by layering numerous glazes, soft fluid areas, and intuitive gestural marks. Robinson’s paintings are often both playful and meditative – inviting the viewer to a personal experience.

2 - 5pm Tuesday - Saturday
Rachel June will premiere “Evil Pleasures,” her first solo photography show at Mid-City Theatre. The exhibition will feature 22 works, including her new photography series inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins, as well as portraits and documentary photographs.
