Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Perverts and Devil's Converts, prepare yourselves to be captivated, amazed, and bewildered as Slow Burn Burlesque brings you the Peepshow Freak Show, an evening of dancing ladies, freaks of nature, sideshow, feats of danger, music, and more! On July 26th at the Howlin' Wolf, Slow Burn travels back in time to the glory days of the traveling carnival sideshows when burlesque dancers and sideshow freaks followed the big carnivals across America to entertain the masses. In that tradition we will unleash our inner freak to entertain you with bawdy burlesque beauties, pain proof demons of danger, famously freakish fiends, hilarious and humorous hams, and the wildest weirdoes in New Orleans and the World.

Blood Drive on July 27th from 12-6pm at Freret Street Publiq House (4528 Freret St)

This blood drive is a response to the June 29 shooting of 9 people on Bourbon Street with goal of collecting 100 pints. Organizing partners ask community members, advocates of antiviolence and New Orleans music culture come out to donate blood.

On Sunday, Freret Street Publiq House will host, providing light snacks, raffle prizes, and live performances by local dance troupes and live music by the Grammy nominated Hot 8 Brass Band. All are welcome, even those unable to donate blood. Taceaux Loceaux food truck will be on site.

Friends of the Cabildo is proud to announce a symposium in conjunction with the Bicentennial of the Battle of New Orleans Weekend (Saturday, January 10th). Held at the Old U.S. Mint 3rd Floor Performance Space, Dr. Alan Taylor, 2014 and 1996 Pulitzer Prize Winner in History and University of Virgina Thomas Jefferson Foundation Professor of History, will present on the War of 1812 and his newest book The Internal Enemy: Slavery and the War in Virginia, 1772-1832.

A panel discussion will take place with Dr. Lawrence Powell and Dr. Clarence Mohr, moderated by Dr. Charles Chamberlain. Other lecturers include Dr. Lo Faber, recent Princeton University graduate and visiting Loyola University-New Orleans Visiting Professor, United States Military Academy – The History of Warfare Historian Dr. Joseph Stoltz and more to be announced.
