WWOZ brings together our local, national and international supporters into a distinctive community that celebrates and strengthens the music, musicians, culture and culture bearers of New Orleans.
A guitarist, a bassist, a drummer and a mandolin player all walk into a bar in San Francisco – what do you get? The answer is the distinctly New Orleans blending of funk, roots music and country that is the Honey Island Swamp Band.
WWOZ will be broadcasting live from the Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival this weekend, when the N.O. Jazz and Heritage Foundation presents its third annual celebration of the blues. Legendary bluesman Honeyboy Edwards is one of the many top performers from southern Louisiana and Mississippi who will appear.
