WWOZ brings together our local, national and international supporters into a distinctive community that celebrates and strengthens the music, musicians, culture and culture bearers of New Orleans.
A huge weekend planned at the 2010 Voodoo Music Experience. In particular the Bingo Parlour tent.
I haven't been able to leave this tent in the last 2 years. It is a festival in a festival, and I am sure I will spend most of the weekend there this year.
The Bingo Parlour tent opens at 10:00 a.m. Friday with Yoga classes followed by Ratty Scurvics at 11:00 a.m.
Special Show Air Time: Saturday, October 31, 2009 11:59am - Sunday, November 1, 2009 3:00am
On Halloween night, both the Voodoo Festival and Daylight Savings Time come together. Consider that New Orleans has always been the Petri Dish of music so tonight we'll turn back the clock not just one hour but one generation as we focus on the music of this unusual city.
There's lots to be seen and heard around town this weekend, courtesy of a bevy of festivals and celebrations: The Boo Carré Halloween and Harvest Fest in the French Quarter, the first annual COPS II Blues Festival uptown on Magazine St., and A Celebration of New Orleans with a second line from Congo Square to Frenchmen Street. Who needs more proof that New Orleans is the spot for live music!
Why are city governments so "NON-SUPPORTIVE" of LIVE music? In Mandeville, Chenier built a new shopping, residential facility on Highway 190. They included in their plans a lovely ampitheater with gazebo for performances. They schedule four live music performance for Thursdays in October, free to the public and invited the neighborhood.
Our 2009 Fall Membership Drive is over, and we have so many people to thank for making it a success! We're extremely grateful to our new and renewing members, show hosts, volunteers, performing musicians, staff, and food donors who make it possible for WWOZ to keep bringing the music of New Orleans to the universe!
