Banjolin or Banjo music Dec 5-8??

Help? My mom and I are coming to NO and searching for the real deal banjo or banjolin music/dixie jazz. Can't do the dinner steamboat unfortunately (she gets motion sick).
I've done some research but the insider info would be great.

trad jazz not dixie
It all depends on who is playing while you are here. Don Vappie is probably the best banjo player of traditional jazz that we have. Try looking at the schedules for the Spotted Cat, Donna's, Fritzel's and the Palm Court.
