New Thursday Show Hosts

new hosts

Bill Taylor, Ms. Smalls, & DJ Swamp Boogie.

We've made some changes to our Thursday program schedule. Though these hosts are in new slots, you'll likely recognize their names and voices as all are longtime WWOZ volunteers and have hosted or subbed other shows for years. Ms. Smalls, most recently of Tuesday's New Orleans Music Show, will now kick off our Thursday schedule on the Midnight Music show from 12a-3a. Bill Taylor is back on the WWOZ airwaves on the Thursday edition of the New Orleans Music Show (11a-2p). Finally, DJ Swamp Boogie hosts The Drivin' Wheel, a new Thursday afternoon Blues show (2-4p).

Check out excerpts from a film debuting at this year's New Orleans Film Festival: One Note at a Time, which pays homage to the musicians and cultural supporters who courageously returned to New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Compelled to come back and determined to resuscitate the music scene, this is their story, told in their own words. The film includes a number of scenes recorded at WWOZ, including deep interviews with and footage from Dr. John, Lionel Ferbos, Smokey Johnson, Little Freddie King, former WWOZ DJ Billy Delle, Clarke Peters, and more.
