"Book Structures for Printers" with Jessica of the Southern Letterpress

Sunday, May 29, 2016 -
11:00am to 5:00pm
New Orleans Community Printshop & Darkroom
1201 Mazant St
New Orleans, LA 70117
Enrollment Capacity: max 12 Students https://www.etsy.com/listing/273485002/ $30.00 This workshop taught by Jessica Peterson, of The Southern Letterpress, will focus on well-crafted but easy-to-do bookbinding structures that are good for printers who like making book editions, including the pamphlet, accordion, and drum leaf structures. Two of these structures allow you to have an image on a full-page spread without having to worry about pesky imposition or pagination (a book printer's dream come true!). Participants will make a demonstration model of each structure, for reference to use in later work. Jessica runs The Southern Letterpress at 3700 St. Claude in New Orleans, where she provides letterpress printing and design services for clients. She has a Master's degree in book arts from The University of Alabama, Mississippi University for Women and Purchase College.
