The NOLA Cherry Bombs Host 3rd Annual Cherry-Oke Karaoke Party to Benefit the Institute for Women & Ethnic Studies (IWES) New Orleans New Orleans, June 22nd: On Friday, June 22nd, 2018, the NOLA Cherry Bombs will host the 3rd Annual Cherry-Oke Karaoke Party to benefit the Institute for Women & Ethnic Studies (IWES NOLA) program, Creating a Truer Self (CATS). The party—featuring live dance performances, multiple karaoke competitions, a raffle and the Cherry Bombs’ signature Jello Shots—will be held at Igor’s Buddha Belly Bar, 4437 Magazine St., New Orleans, LA 70115, from 9pm-1am on June 22nd. The event is 21+ and features a $5 suggested door donation. The NOLA Cherry Bombs are an all-women dancing and parading troupe. Founded in June 2011 and united by a passion for dance, our mission is to support the mental and physical health of the people of New Orleans by spreading positive energy, non-judgmental social interaction, and sisterhood through dance. Our chosen beneficiary, CATS, is a new program offered through IWES and was founded in the knowledge that addressing sexual trauma in adolescent and young adult females is paramount to not only teen pregnancy prevention, but to the prevention of sexually transmitted disease, moderate-to-severe trauma-related mental health challenges, and cyclical violence. The program — not yet officially launched — will work to bring education, coping skill development, and empowerment surrounding the topic of trauma in young female communities to support young women in becoming advocates for themselves and others. We are excited to partner with IWES and support their incredible efforts in our true Cherry fashion! In addition to live dance performances by the NOLA Cherry Bombs, the 3rd Annual Cherry-Oke Karaoke Party will feature karaoke competitions throughout the evening with great prizes from local businesses, such as Tour Cycle, Urban South, Lola’s Restaurant, Dirty Coast, and more! Raffles for more great prizes will run all night, and open karaoke follows the event following competition close. Last, but not least, signature NOLA Cherry Bomb Jello Shots will be sold 2-for-1 all evening!
