CorsetCon brings Body Positive Costume Experience to the Marigny on Saturday, May 12, 2018 New Orleans, LA – On May 12th from noon until midnight, the Creativity Collective nonprofit presents CorsetCon, the ultimate New Orleans fantasy costuming experience! Corset fashions from multiple communities will light up the St. Claude Art’s District: Cosplay, Steampunk, Burlesque, Drag, Victorian Era, Pirate, Renaissance Era, Vampire, and more—a body positive celebration. CorsetCon will include performances, tutorials, live music, media, a fashion show, and a costume contest culminating in Corset Crawl, our event-closing pub crawl. CorsetCon events will be held at our main location, The New Orleans Healing Center, which include the registration booth, classes, demonstrations, and tutorials. Secondary locations, Hi-Ho Lounge and Mudlark Public Theatre, will host performances, music and much more! In the evening, the pub crawl will kick off and stop at five other venues where attendees will receive discounted drinks, food, karaoke and free entertainment!!! There will also be a 50/50 raffle and contests for the best ensembles. The corset’s popularity began in sixteenth-century Europe. It has become a costume and undergarment staple, especially with the city’s performance troupes and marching krewes. The Creativity Collective will give prizes for the best group theme, most classic representation, and best comedic interpretation. Can you imagine a more fun and fitting fundraiser for this great city of New Orleans than hundreds of corset-wearing participants enjoying themselves in such a vibrant and musically talented area on a lovely spring evening? Corsetcon wristbands provide free entry to a number of events and a 25% discount for ticketed events during the afternoon, free entry for Corset Crawl, discounts for drinks that evening, and a raffle ticket. Corset Crawl, the evening’ pub crawl, have wristbands available for the evening portion only. We ask that participants be twenty-one and over.
