Gleason Movie Screening

Award Winning Film"Gleason" Screening at OMC-Jeff. Hwy. Thurs., Aug. 24 The University of Queensland – ALS Voice Banking Project and the Ochsner Medical Student Association will be hosting a screening of the film "Gleason" Thurs., Aug. 24 at 7:00 p.m. in Monroe Hall at OMC-Jefferson Highway. Doors open promptly at 6:30 p.m. This documentary film shares the story of former New Orleans Saints star Steve Gleason after he was diagnosed with ALS. Through this film, we see when Gleason learns his wife is pregnant, travels to Alaska, creates a foundation for ALS patients, and embraces new technologies to help him compensate for his new found disabilities. Brimming with humor and heart, this inspirational documentary follows a man who battles overwhelming adversity to find his true purpose in life. Seats are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be purchased at the door or bought online in advance. All proceeds will go to benefit the Ochsner ALS Voice Banking Project, which assists patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in recording their voices before they lose the ability to speak. This program is run by University of Queensland – Ochsner students, and lead by Daniel Larriviere, MD. Free popcorn will be provided. All are welcomed to attend.
