GOOD CHILDREN CD RELEASE SHOW(s)
New Orleans based Americana/Rock band, Good Children, will be performing an in-house show at the Louisiana Music Factory (421 Frenchmen St, New Orleans, LA) Saturday, September 20th at 2:00 pm, and afterwards right across the street at Checkpoint Charlie’s from 4-7pm. We will be performing material from our latest release, “An Evening in the Rookery,” a live-in-the-studio recording done at the Rookery Studios in New Orleans’ Bywater, under the skillful hand of studio maestro Ratty Scurvics.
The band features pedal-steel virtuoso Ron Reiss as well as veteran New Orleans musicians Rick Weston on harmonica (a regular performer with the Washboard Chaz blues trio), Michael Andrepont on drums (of Morning 40 Federation, Rough 7, and Happy Talk fame), Stephen Palmes on mandolin, and Peter Canavello on bass guitar. These seasoned musicians back up songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Michael Wilder on his original compositions and select cover tunes.
Wilder’s whiskey-tinged baritone delivers well-crafted lyrics and songs that pull from deep traditions of American roots music. The sound is a mixture of country, blues, and a dash of rock and roll that reflects time spent in the Deep South and Texas before finally landing in New Orleans.
