In partnership with John E. Koerner & Co., Inc. and Delgado University the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB) will host the 2nd annual Big Top Cake Competition – a one-of-a-kind competition whereby professionals, home bakers, and students showcase their finest cake decorating techniques to a panel of professional judges and the public. This year the theme is “It’s Happy Hour Somewhere!” and the winners of both the student and professional entries will have their cakes on display at the museum for a year following the competition. The Student category winner will also receive admission to the three-day Pastry Live in Atlanta. Other prizes will be announced for the People’s Choice and the Bakery Carnival winners. In addition to the cake competition, the museum will host bakeries, chefs, and home cooks in the Bakery Carnival where museum guests can sample an array of sweet and savory creations. Attendance to all events of the day is free with museum admission ($10.50 for adults, $5.25 for students, seniors, and military).
