Varisco’s Fluid States is a series of photographs and installations that depict water’s complexity, importance and interconnectivity with all life. The images are a study of fluidity. Water is the quintessential shape-shifter of light, color and form and it’s also the universal transporter of everything in between.
Represented in the exhibition are water and life forms from the Gulf area. Fluid States captures water’s grace, growth, high tides and low tides, along with the ebb and flow of life and death.
Based in New Orleans, Michel Varisco received her BA from Loyola University in 1990 and her MFA from Tulane University in 1995. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and Museums nationally and internationally.
