NolaLoyola 2012 presents "Beats of the Streets: The Brass Band Tradition in New Orleans." The day-time program showcases the film "In That Number: The New Orleans Brass Band Revival" with commentary by Gregory Davis of the Dirty Dozen Brass band and Gregg Stafford of Young Tuxedo Brass band from 10-12 in Monroe Library, Multi-media 2. At noon Baby Boyz Brass Band will play in the Residential Quad and local vendors will sell food. From 2-4 Ben Jaffe of Preservation Hall will present "New Orleans Jazz on Film," a program that includes rare archival film footage of noted New Orleans jazz legends, in Multi-Media 2 in the Monroe library. The keynote event, from 7-9pm in Roussel Hall, features commentary and performances by the Loyola Music Faculty Jazz Band, the Young Tuxedo Brass Band and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. NOLAloyola 2012 is sponsored by the Center for the Study of New Orleans, The College of Music and Fine Arts and the College of Social Sciences.
