Orleans Public Education Network (OPEN NOLA) invites New Orleans residents to bring their voice to the conversation around our schools at the third annual Public Education Day at the Capitol. OPEN will bring parents, educators, students and engaged community members to Baton Rouge to enhance their understanding of the issues facing public education and start their journey to civic capacity. Light breakfast and lunch will also be provided.
The purpose of Public Education Day is to elevate participants' understanding of the democratic process and connect community members to elected officials during this critical legislative session. Highlighted topics will include support for quality early childhood education and after-school programs, high school transformation, and unified school governance, as well as tracking key issues like public education funding.
Buses will depart the parking lot of Mahalia Jackson Theater at 6:30 am March 20th and return at 4pm that day.
