Noise Ordinance Vote by City Council Special Housing & Human Needs Committee

DATE
Fri, Jan 17, 2014
TIME
12:00pm - 3:00pm
UPDATE:  The Special Housing and Human Needs Committee meeting set for January 17 is cancelled, and the current ordinance will be withdrawn.  A new version of the ordinance will bepresented in draft form at the next Housing and Human Needs Committee meeting on January 27, 2014. Therefore, per MACCNO, tomorrow's rally at 11am outside City Hall will still go on as scheduled.  "It's not over until it has been officially withdrawn and a new process is announced."

The City Council's new noise ordinance goes to the Housing and Human Needs Committee on Friday, January 17 at NOON for further review before it heads to the full City Council for a vote.

The Council's Housing and Human Needs Committee will be in special session on Friday, January 17, 2014 in the City Council Chamber, 1300 Perdido Street.

There will be a rally at 11am in Duncan Plaza, the park right across from City Hall! Musicians, please bring your instruments. This is your chance to let the city know that you are one of the thousands of citizens opposing the proposed Noise Ordinance.

The MACCNO (Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans) website has a variety of the resources related to this issue.

This video below was produced by Seidist Media and Open House New Orleans Company (OHNO Co).  It includes local musicians and personalities, including Meschiya Lake, Dan Fox, Chuck Perkins, Corey Henry and Trixie Minx, all of whom are among the many individuals in the New Orleans entertainment and music industries, and who are speaking out against the proposed noise ordinance. Please share it!
