Tuesday, May 9, 2017 -
6:00pm to 8:00pm
Hello craft and fiber lovers! Come learn to embroidery at Glitter box and celebrate color, handiwork, and mothers of all kinds! Embroidery is a meditative, easy and infinitely versatile needle based decorative technique. Make patches, embellish old clothes, create personalized gifts, or just enjoy slowly drawing with your hands, a needle, and embroidery floss. The first hour will consist of a lesson in the basic tools and stitches of embroidery. The rest of the time we’ll all work on our projects and look at what other embroidery artists are doing with this surprisingly vast medium. If you are happy with what you’re already working on just come at any point, have a drink and work on your project with us. Even though our focus will be in embroidery, knitters and crocheters are welcome to join! Bring your own materials or contact us if you want us to supply you with a starter kit. They are $5 and consist of: 2 colors of embroidery floss (thick thread), 2 needles, a 10inx10in patch of white fabric, and an embroidery hoop. Suggested donation $10-$15.10% donated to Sexual Trauma Awareness & Response Center ! Come to the Glitter Box to meet fellow stitchers, get some inspiration, and learn a new skill!
