This volunteer-based gleaning program is a creative way to fight food insecurity
This volunteer-based gleaning program is a creative way to fight food insecurity in New Orleans food deserts by redistributing fresh fruits that would otherwise go to waste. The New Orleans Fruit Tree Project’s goal is to collect and redistribute excess fruit grown in the Greater New Orleans region, educate the public about nutritional benefits of fresh produce, and advocate for the economic importance of regionally grown fruit.
