Thu, Jun 27, 2013
TIME
6:00pm - 8:00pm

Longue Vue House and Gardens is excited partner with the NOLA Locavores and the Master Gardeners of Greater New Orleans for this 2013 Eat Local Challenge event on June 27. Presented by native plant expert, Dr. Charles Allen, this is a hands, mouth and nose-on lecture with fresh and dried samples of edible and useful native plants. A brief overview of each plant will be discussed while participants are encouraged to graze on salad plants, sip freshly brewed teas from an assortment of dried plants such as New Jersey Tea leaves, blackberry leaves, persimmon leaves and smell jars of dried leaves of red bay, mountain mint and other spices.

For more information, contact Hilairie Schackai, Director of Community Initiatives and Education, at 504.293.4726 or email hschackai@longuevue.com.
