The 40 organizations of New Orleans Kids Partnership (NOKP) will give their “Power of Partnership” 2013 Award to three local agencies for their efforts to stimulate cross-sector collaborations on behalf of children: New Orleans Public Library, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation, and New Orleans City Health Department.
Charlotte Parent, Deputy Director of New Orleans Health Department, will present the City’s Fit NOLA plan. Fit NOLA is the City’s comprehensive plan to achieve healthy weight and fitness for everyone in New Orleans, launched with the release of the Fit NOLA Action Blueprint last summer. Over 140 organizations are involved in the Fit NOLA partnership. Parent will also provide information on additional City initiatives including NOLA for Life. Developed in May 2012, NOLA for Life is New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s comprehensive murder reduction strategy to tackle the city’s historically high murder rate.
