A Rising Star in Educational Excellence and Youth Empowerment to Benefit the Children of Teaching Responsible Earth Education (T.R.E.E.)

DATE
Fri, Apr 5, 2013
TIME
6:30pm - 10:30pm

Harry Shearer, Keynote Speaker in Support of A Rising Star in Educational Excellence and Youth Empowerment to Benefit the Children of Teaching Responsible Earth Education (T.R.E.E.), Friday, April 5, 2013, 6:30pm-10:30pm at the U.N.O. Homer L. Hitt Alumni Center

Since 1995, T.R.E.E. has been serving New Orleans area children with outdoor classroom experiences that transform conceptual understanding of science and the knowledge that what one does and thinks really matters.

Funds raised will go towards the children participating in T.R.E.E. programs, most of which live in low-income families and cannot afford program costs. About $500,000 per year is spent to serve 1,500, 9 to 13 year olds to attend 3 to 5-day programs. Fifth and seventh grade programs are overnight and quite comprehensive. About $200,000 of in-kind is donated each year from hundreds of parents, and other volunteers.
