Friday, March 31, 2017 - 6:30pm
Community Church Unitarian Universalist (CCUU) is presenting a live concert and silent auction on March 31st, featuring musicians Cindy Scott, Brian Seeger and John Stravers. Proceeds will benefit the building of an outdoor playground for the congregation’s children. Cindy Scott is a well -known New Orleans jazz vocalist and songwriter who is currently professor of music at Berklee School of Music in Boston. She seamlessly combines various musical styles, including jazz and Spanish classics. Brian Seeger, an outstanding guitarist, is a mainstay of the local jazz and recording scene who holds the Alvin “Red” Tyler Professor of Jazz Studies chair at the University of New Orleans. He is known for often taking a different approach to music. His recent record, recorded with his group, Organic Trio, has been in the JazzWeek Radio top 10 charts for the past 6 weeks. He just returned from Paris to sold-out crowds. Brian and Cindy have recorded many musical pieces together and have toured the world, presenting their special New Orleans music. Cindy and Brian will be accompanied by Casandra Faulconer on bass (on break from the touring cirque du Soleil show "Amaluna") and Doug Belote on drums.
