BioDistrict New Orleans, the New Orleans Film Society and McDonnel Construction Services will host a networking event and film screening to honor famed cardiac surgeon, Dr. Michael E. DeBakey, whose work has touched the lives of millions of people in New Orleans. DeBakey helped lay the foundations for both the Veterans Administration Hospital system and the National Library of Medicine in New Orleans. After leaving Louisiana, DeBakey was fundamental in the development of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world.
BioDistrict New Orleans invites the public to this free event, especially the New Orleans bioscience and medical professionals interested in building a community for better health outcomes and economic opportunities. Following the screening of the documentary, patrons can enjoy a Q&A segment with the producer of the film, Dr. Tony Herring and award winning documentary filmmaker, Mr. Ken Mandel.
