The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) celebrates the release of the Winter 2013 issue of Louisiana Cultural Vistas (LCV), its award-winning quarterly magazine, with a publication party and reception. The event is free and open to the public.
The evening features a screening of the Academy Award-winning “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore” from cover story subject William Joyce. Contributor David Rae Morris discusses the research for his story on Dr. Jane Ellen McAllister and the training of African-American teachers in Louisiana, and author Ron Thibodeaux reads from his recent book, Hell or High Water: How Cajun Fortitude Withstood Hurricanes Rita and Ike. The reception is sponsored by Abita Brewery, with free beer available to all guests and tacos on sale from the Taceaux Loceaux.
Since 1991, Louisiana Cultural Vistas has documented Louisiana's culture, arts, history, and literature.
