SATCHMO'S KIDS: STUDENTS' CONVERSATIONS WITH MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

The Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp was founded in 1995 and offers intensive music instruction for young people ages 10-21. The camp under the direction of its Executive Director, Jackie Harris, has received internation recognition for its contribution of jazz music instruction. The camp has hosted as students eminent musicians such as, Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, Michael Ballard, Troy Sawyer, Gregory Agid, Joseph Peebles, Jonathan Batiste, Sammie "Big Sam" Williams, and many others. The leadership and residents artists compile of a most impressive list of skilled musicians such as, Edward "Kidd" Jordan, Clyde Kerr Jr., Alvin Batiste,Norma Miller,Germaine Bazzle, Marlon Jordan, Darrell Lavigne, Jonath Bloom, Roger Dickerson Sr., Donald Harrison, Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, George Duke, Nicholas Payton and many others.
