An introduction to the beautiful, passionate, and profound gitano-Andalusian art form known as Flamenco. Perfect for the absolute beginner or advanced beginner in need of a technique refresher, the workshop will examine flamenco rhythms, zapateado (footwork), braceo (arm movement), and stylization.
Eliza began dancing at the age of three and initiated her flamenco studies in New Mexico and Mexico. In 2002 she moved to Spain to pursue more advanced studies at the prestigious Centro Flamenco de Estudios Escenicos Mario Maya in Granada and later in Seville.
She has been a company member of Theatre Flamenco of San Francisco, directed by Carola Zertuche. Today, Eliza is a member of the Juan Siddi Flamenco Theater Company of Santa Fe, New Mexico, appearing on tours throughout the US and with their 2008 and 2012 Santa Fe summer seasons. She has taught in southern Mexico and looks forward to sharing her passion for the art of flamenco with her students in New Orleans.
