Tickets Suggested Donation at the door - $15
Chuck Perkins’ poetry comes from the heart, part street, part workingman, part everyman reaching for the stars. Native New Orleanian, he lived the aftermath of the city’s Civil Rights Movement, the actuality of the Federal Flood of Katrina, and creates as founder of the new Café Istanbul in the Healing Center of New Orleans a haven for adventurous traditionalists in music, theater and writing in New Orleans.
By agreement with the artists in the Last Friday at First Series, donations at the door will be divided between the artists and First Church, to finance completion of the NO-AIDS Task Force Community Kitchen. The kitchen is constructed and furnished, but new Louisiana requirements in electrification and fire safety – long overdue and welcome, to be sure - have added a considerable sum to the expense of completion. The Church thanks all artists participating in the Series for their generosity.
