HandsOn-Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Canvassing in Central City

In remembrance of September 11th, help ensure the safety of Central City residents in times of disaster.

HandsOn New Orleans and American Red Cross are looking for caring and energetic volunteers for a September 14th disaster preparedness canvassing. Volunteers will work in teams and go door to door with preparedness information created by our partners at Red Cross.

Both neighborhoods are low to moderate income areas with high numbers of elderly residents who live alone and residents without access to vehicles. Volunteers will be trained in fire and hurricane readiness talking points, given canvassing materials to distribute, and will then engage household members they encounter on their disaster preparations.
