The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) celebrates the release of the Summer 2012 issue of Louisiana Cultural Vistas. The event is free and open to the public. Editor-in-chief Michael Sartisky, Ph.D., and Executive Editor David Johnson will interview contributors Jerry Brock, whose piece on Mahalia Jackson is the issue’s cover story; John Magill of the Historic New Orleans Collection, who will discuss his article on Claiborne Avenue; and artist Ayo Scott, whose painting of Jackson graces the cover.
Since 1991, Louisiana Cultural Vistas has documented Louisiana's culture, arts, history, and literature. Every issue features the work of scholars, photographers, artists, and writers who reflect Louisiana's unique cultures and diverse population.
