Young artists from Kid's Play NOLA, a free summer arts immersion program for children under the direction of Master teachers Dana Reed and Laura Patterson, will perform "Captain Vegetable" using their very own, handmade vegetable instruments. From bell pepper maracas to carrot ocarinas and celery violins, the youngsters will share the magic and power of dance, theater, and music and their newfound knowledge of the value of gardening and eating health foods through an artistic lens.
This "healthy hoopla" performance is the culmination of the Kid's Play NOLA summer camp. The young artists cultivated their own artistic voice to form the vegetable orchestra and created their own tie-dyed/food-dyed t-shirts, which they'll be sporting during the performance.
Wrapping up the show, Executive Chef Eric LaBouchere and Sous Chef Nat Carrier of Martinique Bistro will be on-hand to demonstrate how to make market-driven snacks.
The performance is free and open to the public.
