HFHCF is run by Executive Director, Marie Jose Poux (known as Mariejo) whose efforts to support Haitian artists by providing an outlet for sale of their work is well known in greater New Orleans. Mariejo has promoted and sold Haitian art in Congo Square for more than 30 years. She recently inherited the management of the Hope for Haitian Foundation Orphanage in 2009 when one of the original directors passed away. The orphanage had 14 children in residence at the time, and when the catastrophic January 12, 2010 earthquake struck Port-au_Prince and its outlying regions, the number of orphans went from in permanent residence grew to 35. HFHCF now cares for 110 children.
