Come join us for a special New Orleans premiere screening of David "Reverend Goat" Carson's film Step Off. Made in 1984 in New York City and starring Melle Mel, the film, a visionary rap science fiction film foretells the coming cultural revolution of hip hop. It is also one of the earliest examples of a film primarily using CGI. The film, never distributed, has been only shown once, over 30 years ago at a small film festival in NYC. Reverend Goat Carson is a New Orleans legend. He is a Grammy award winning songwriter (Dr. John's The City that Care Forgot). Reverend Goat is also the founder of White Buffalo Day in New Orleans. He has dedicated his life to using creative ways to unite people. His collaboration with the great rapper Melle Mel on this film is a great example of his work. Rev. Goat will be in attendance and will be available for questions and answers after the screening. The screening is sponsored by Mosaic Culture Project, a 501-c-3 New Orleans based arts non profit who works with marginalized artists and communities to create cultural programs that celebrate New Orleans' diversity.
