La société pas si secrète des Champs-Élysées Rides the New Streetcar Line

Friday, January 6, 2017 - 7:30pm
New Orleans’ newest Carnival Krewe, Société Des Champs Elysée will ride 12th Night, January 6th, 2017, 7:30 PM on the new downtown street car line, from Elysian Fields and St Claude, across Canal, past the Superdome, to Union Station and back again. In this inaugural year, King Kronos, the original Time Lord, will be Chuck Rogers who bought Buffa’s Bar & Restaurant 6 years ago, predicting the streetcar would bring positive changes to the neighborhoods this new line services. Riding this year as Titan will be the perennial symbol of the season, Al “Carnival Time” Johnson, who will also perform at the ball, joining the Davis Rogan Band for dancing and dining in The Back Room at Buffa’s following the street car ride. In honor of the Phunny Phorty Phellows, who begin Carnival in New Orleans every year, riding aboard the St Charles line, Société Du Champs Elysée is limited to 40 masked members. In a perfect world, the two crews will pass each other on Canal Street. The best spot for catching both Krewes will be on Canal twixt Carondolet and Rampart. Société Du Champs Elysée, or more formally "La société pas si secrète des Champs-Élysées". En anglais, The Not So Secret Society of the Elysian Fields
