Humidity Presents: Adidas Art Show

Thursday, October 20, 2016 - 8:00pm
In collaboration with Humidity Skate Shop, Antieau Gallery presents seven pairs of Adidas sneakers, each interpreted by a different artist, as part of our series of Third Thursday events. Come join us at 8PM on October 20th at 927 Royal Street to experience and celebrate the re-imagining of the classic white sneaker. The shoes will be displayed alongside our collection of fabric appliqué works by Chris Roberts-Antieau. Featuring art by Chris Roberts-Antieau, Daks, Terry Brown, Jessica Bizer, Seth Fountain, Meek™, and Moneybags Wellington, the Adidas Art Show brings together seven artists who work in a wide variety of media and styles, challenging each of them to view the Adidas sneaker as their new canvas. Curator Philly Santosuosso is the owner of Humidity skate shop in New Orleans, a professional skater, and a respected advocate for the merging of the art and skating worlds. He selected these seven artists with the intent of bringing local artists, national artists, established artists, new artists, street artists, and fine artists under one roof and thinking about one shoe. Sneaker customizers hold a strong tradition in the worlds of skateboarding and shoe collection; it’s a tradition that deserves a closer look by New Orleans culture, artists, and galleries. Adidas and Pabst Blue Ribbon are official sponsors for this event, which is an opportunity for New Orleans galleries and art enthusiasts to explore sneaker art as a valuable and exciting genre. Join us for art, sneakers, and fun.
