Jazz at the Rat featuring Brandee Younger

Thursday, October 20, 2016 - 7:00pm
Known for expressive interpretations of traditional harp repertoire as well as her work with a diverse cross-section of musical talents, harpist Brandee Younger is a creative linchpin who's willing to push boundaries on record and in performance. Based in New York, Younger's quest to ”make the harp a more relevant force in today’s music” has led her to sharing stages with jazz leaders and popular hip hop and R&B titans including Ravi Coltrane, Common, Jack Dejohnette, Lauryn Hill, John Legend, Pharoah Sanders, and many more. Her latest album, Wax and Wane, is produced by Casey Benjamin of the Robert Glasper Experiment. Presented as part of Jazz at the Rat, a series of live concerts held on selected Thursday evenings at City Diner aka Der Rathskeller (a.k.a. "The Rat") at Tulane University. Curated by Jesse McBride, the series features performances by jazz legends and rising stars, comprising of both visiting artists and outstanding New Orleans-based musicians, accompanied by students from Tulane's Jazz Studies program. Sponsored by the Lagniappe Series of the Newcomb-Tulane College Office of Cocurricular Programs at Tulane University. For more information, email donuts@tulane.edu or call (504) 865-5728.
