Art Retreat with Chris Roberts-Antieau

Thursday, January 19, 2017 - 4:00pm to Sunday, January 22, 2017 - 4:00pm
Join nationally acclaimed fabric artist Chris Roberts-Antieau for an inspirational art retreat in New Orleans, January 19-22, 2017. Over the course of four eventful days, participants will learn sewing and design techniques through Chris Roberts-Antieau’s supportive and engaging instruction. With the French Quarter and the Canal streetcar a stone’s throw from our venues, the retreat is both an opportunity to develop creatively alongside a master of her craft and a chance to explore the many wonders of the Big Easy. Learning from Chris Roberts-Antieau is an occasion to approach the creative process from a unique and radically different pathway, one that cannot be replicated by any school or institution. Chris Roberts-Antieau is a self-taught artist, and her artworks, while extremely varied, all share a love for life: its beauty, its silliness, its passion, its oddity, and its mystery. Given her artistic background and inspirations, Chris Roberts-Antieau is a one-of-a-kind teacher that will unlock the artist in every participant. During the retreat, participants will reside at The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery, where they will enjoy the amenities and beauty of one of the best hotels in the country. The workshop itself will take place at the nearby New Orleans Athletic Club - a stunning space that hosts a century and a half of Louisiana history within its marble and wood-paneled walls. The retreat includes all the necessary supplies, studio time with Chris Roberts-Antieau, breakfast and lunch everyday, and much more. Every participant will complete an original fabric-applique creation of their own design, and will receive complimentary framing from our very own frame-shop. The retreat is limited to 20 people, and tickets cost $3,250 a piece. Sign up as a pair and pay $2,950 each. A $1,000 nonrefundable deposit is due upon registration. The balance is due November 1st, 2016.
