Nicholas Payton stopped by the Allison Miner Music Heritage Stage today for an interview with Bruce Raeburn

Payton is the product of a musical New Orleans family (he's the son of bassist and sousaphonist Walter Payton Jr.; his mother is a classical pianist and has a background as an opera singer).

Satan & Adam: Subway to the Stage

Sterling Magee and Adam Gussow started playing together in the streets and subways of Harlem in the 80s. Magee - originally from Mout Olive, Mississippi - was a one man band playing under the moniker Mr. Satan. They teamed up and have since become one of New York City's preeminent blues acts.

Our food of the day today: Trout Baquet.

Trout Baquet is buttery trout, topped with lump crabmeat. Fantastic, and you can get it at the Baquet's restaurant, Li’l Dizzy’s Café on Esplanade.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No Andy Williams, not Christmas, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the unchallenged greatest music and culture event on the planet.
