It's time for my at least 25th annual Food Show. So on Tuesday the 24th, all of the songs will be about food or have a type of food in the title. It's my way of ringing in the holiday season so don't tune in hungry.

On Wednesday May 27th, from 9 until 11 am, the Jazz Roots Show will present a special 100th birthday salute to Benny Goodman. We'll take a look at the first twenty years of Goodman's career and feature some of the many greats that recorded with him during this time.

A late but important pointer to my Jazz Roots show this morning. Last night as I was putting up today's entry into my This Day in Louisiana Music History web site. I realized that today would have been Harold Dejan's 100th birthday so we'll celebrate Harold's birthday today at 10:30. Also the vocals of Josephine Baker at 10.

The King of the Krewe du Vieux - Frankie Ford

On Feb 3rd, the Tuesday New Orleans Music Show (11 am - 2 pm) will kick off Carnival with the appearance of Frankie Ford, this year's King of the Krewe Du Vieux. Frankie will be making a two-fold trip as he will also be celebrating the release of a new CD "On the Street Where you Live." A long lost tape of a 1962 recording made at Cosimo's studio, that has been reissued.

Tomorrow Jan. 13th we'll be getting you ready for the big Danny Barker festivities this weekend with a special 100th birthday salute to Danny. Danny was born on Jan. 13th, so why should we wait for the weekend? We'll feature his work with Cab Calloway, Henry "Red" Allen, Blue Lu Barker and some rare Danny recordings from the early sixties as well as his later Orleans recordings.
