In 2001 a brand new band called Téada burst onto the traditional Irish music scene making headlines on the innovative Irish TV show Flosc. Since then Téada has grown into one of Ireland’s most ground-breaking, inventive and zesty bands, headlining at major music festivals throughout the world, from Ireland to America, Australia to Israel, and throughout Europe.

The film captures the life of legendary Texan crooner Blaze Foley, who died homeless and with no official albums released. Since his murder in 1989, Foley's music has been covered by Wilie Nelson, Merle Haggard, John Prine, Lyle Lovett, Nancy Griffith, and more.

Get ready New Orleans; the Poor Clares will soon all be back in town to celebrate their 20th year anniversary playing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival as one of the premium Irish bands to come out of the Crescent City.
Multi-instrumentalist Carlos Malta is in town. The sax and flute virtuoso is performing at UNO on Wednesday and will also perform two sets at Snug Harbor Thursday. WWOZ will broadcast the second set LIVE in case you are unable to attend.
One of Brazil's most respected musicians, Malta is a composer, performer, arranger, band leader and music educator who has performed all over the world.
The great jazz and second line drummer Herlin Riley, veteran of dozens of recordings playing with the greats, from Ahmad Jamal and Wynton Marsalis to the present-day Kermit Ruffins and more, and rhythm maker for countless live bands including his own, comes to visit me, Raymond on The Morning Set and at The Jazz Crossroads at 8:30 a.m. CST, Friday, February the 11th, 2011.
