Magary Lord has developed a huge fan base in Salvador de Bahia, on the northeast coast of Brazil, with a new sound rooted in Angola, Africa: Black Semba. He's also been an active participant in Carnival (see the video below).

John Boutte performing at Jazz Fest is a given, but this year he stepped up to stage you might not expect: the Food Heritage Stage in the Grandstand. That's right, John donned an apron, put on a cap, and picked up some stirring spoons for WWOZ!

Legendary jazz drummer and native New Orleanian Herlin Riley stopped by the Allison Miner Music Heritage Stage for an interview during Jazz Fest this afternoon. Riley is often featured on Jazz at Lincoln Center, and has played with a Wynton Marsalis, Doctor John, Harry Connick, Jr. and many, many others.

Every day at Jazz Fest, there are a number of interviews held on the Allsion Miner Stage in the Grandstand... One of today's featured Zydeco legend Queen Ida and contemporary Zydeco star Terrance Simien.

Ida Lewis "Queen Ida" Guillory is a Louisiana accordionist and the first female accordion player to lead a zydeco band.
