'5 things to know' is a weekly feature highlighting different parts of the WWOZ world that you may have missed this week, including unique WWOZ programming and video, plus New Orleans events, artists, places, features, and more. For the week ending June 3, 2016:

1) The free New Orleans Oyster Festival is happening Saturday and Sunday along the riverfront in Woldenberg Park. All the oysters you could want, plus live music from Tank & the Bangas, Mia Borders, Colin Lake, Honey Island Swamp Band, Bucktown All-Stars, Stooges Brass Band, Bag of Donuts, and more.

2) This week's new music spotlight focused on Tuba Skinny and their album Blue Chime Stomp. Tuba Skinny is an international favorite amongst traditional jazz fans and still play on the streets of the French Quarter when they're in town.

3) The 2017 French Quarter Fest application for musicians opened earlier this week. It will be held April 6-9. FQF also runs SatchmoFest (August 4-7). They are still accepting performer applications, as well.

4) Allen Toussaint's final album, American Tunes, is set to be released June 10. NPR has its 'First Listen,' which you can hear streaming on their website now.

5) The 'OZ featured video of the week is an entry to our Busker Blog with banjoist Kia Cavallaro, a free spirit who regularly performs on Royal Street in the French Quarter. "I love performing here because there's a lot of people, even who aren't from here, they're here for music. They're obviously people who are passionate about music or playing it themselves and that's cool to have as an audience because you know that they're already really interested."
